Tyler Jeffer
Freshman
Hi this is Tyler Jeffer from the PRDN major at montclair. im going into my sophomore year in the major and my 3rd year at MSU in the fall. this is my story for why i chose PRDN.
In my first year of college I undeclared from my major in Fashion Studies and was feeling very lost. I loved art and design but I wanted to do more than just make clothing. I also had a love for science and the more technical fields, as well as business.Â
I really couldn't put a finger on what I wanted to choose, and I felt like I was wasting time. That's when I found the Product Design major. It encompassed everything I had been looking for. Art in design, business, environmental awareness, all while working hands on with drawings and models.Â
After my first year in the PRDN major I feel so rewarded with what I have accomplished. To see a design go from concept to the final model is such an amazing and fulfilling process. The amount of knowledge I have gained through just my first year in the major is incredible, my drawing skills and design process have progressed in light years after just two semesters. All that being said, the best part of our major are the people in it. The professors are so dedicated to their craft and really want to teach you how you can refine your own. The students in the major are very endearing people, I have never been part of such a large group of individuals that really give me a sense of family and comradery. Everybody is always willing to give each other a hand and help out where they can. If PRDN didn't exist I would have switched schools or dropped out entirely.
