Nicholas Scudillo

Alumnus - class of 2021

My name is Nicholas Scudillo and I am a graduate from the product design program in 2021.

I would like to share a message about and my experience during my time in the product design program at MSU. Feel free to use as much or as little of my message below.

My name is Nicholas Scudillo and I am a recent graduate from the product design program at Montclair state university. I found product design through the university during my freshman spring semester from a counselor at the university. I was a transfer student who was previously studying computer animation and found that wasn’t the career path I wanted to pursue. I was quickly introduced to a program that would have a huge impact on me.

The product design program is rigorous and is focused early on providing the skill sets needed in the industry. I was able to hone my sketching skills, conceptual skills, hands on prototyping skills, and CAD skills to name just a few. With the aid of professors with real industry experience, they were all able to raise my own bar on what I can expect out of myself and fostered a real passion for design in me.

The skill set I gained during my time helped me perform to a level I could not imagine I would be able to do on my own. With industry collaboration projects, I found what my profession looked like from a Birds Eye view and taking an internship my final semester I was able to utilize my skills I gained through my time at Montclair state and ultimately led to me being hired by that same company I interned for before graduating.

Without the experience and professors at the product design program at MSU, I would not be the designer I am today and would not have had such a seamless transition into the professional world of design. I am grateful for my peers in the program for being an important piece of the puzzle, as we always pushed each other to outperform our previous work, and to always grow.”
