Hello my name is Matthew Norris, I am an alumnus coming from the Industrial Design program at Montclair State University. When I was informed by another student (also an alumni) that montclair had decided to cancel the program. Montclair State needs to reevaluate their decision to cancel such an incredible pogram!
When i first took this journey through the industrial design program, it was very intimidating at first but the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helped guide me every step of the way. I wouldn't have ever got to where I am today without MSU's Industrial Design program. Dennis Feigler and his group of industry professionals trained me very well with how products are conceptualized, built, and manufatcured. Amazing collab opportunities with Movado group and Ingersoll Rand also gave me some very valuable experiences with working with industry professionals.
I then got an internship through a company called P5 Designers (where I still currently work) to get a better understanding of how the industry opperates outside of an educational setting. I have been working for P5 for a little over 2 years now, thanks to the Industrial/Product design I now have 4 patents with some pretty large companies, one being Church & Dwight!
This type of accomplishments wouldn't have been a possibility if it werent for MSU's Product Design team. Dennis, Mike, Andrea, and Joe did a phenomenal job at preparing me for the "real world". I would be devistated that such an amazing program would be discontinued.
