Jennifer Hodge

Alumnus - class of 2021

My name is Jennifer Hodge and I am a 2021 graduate from the Product Design program at Montclair State. It changed my life in more ways than I can count.

The high level of education I took away from the program due to the the incredible staff and my peers was invaluable to my success in the workforce. I was hired immediately out of college due to my impressive resume and skills acquired throughout the years. The class work is rigorous and makes the students prepared for what the real world will look like. This is accomplished through industry collaborations, internship opportunities, and experienced professors who give guidance along the way.

It is not often you see such a close community of students at a university level that come together to share a passion for design. The intimate classroom setting and family atmosphere is what made me choose the Product Design program at Montclair State over any other school for the program.

The thought of this being removed from is extremely disheartening and makes me emotional. I cannot imagine how different my life would be had I not found my love for design and built up such a great network of other like minded individuals.

The removal of this program would be an enormous loss to the campus and those who love the program as much as I do. It would also unfairly taking away the opportunity for future designers to discover their love for thinking outside the box and creating something revolutionary.

The Arts have always been an undervalued profession. As a liberal arts school with a plethora of individuals pursing unique fields I would have expected the values of the campus community to be retained in keeping the arts alive and thriving.
