The main thing that caught my eye when I decided to choose the Product Design major in Montclair State University was its reputation of providing students opportunities to work in the real world as well as achieving different awards in competitions.
This major has played such a big role in my work ethic in terms of having to regularly ensure that I was always on top of my work which cultivated discipline that was highly required in this very rigorous and competitive field.
I personally saw the improvement in the work I produced as well as my character which I would have never achieved without my experience in PRDN. I also managed to not only participate in the Traffic Safety Symposium Competition in New York City but receive the grand price award as well. I never thought I’d step foot in NYC and with the help of MSU’s PRDN major, I didn’t just step foot but also saw my hard work and design that I have been working on day and night in its real limelight.
My professors always made sure that I was challenged not just for the sake of making me work harder but also to prepare me for the industry and how they operate.
This major may not be as visible to the world but the elements of Product Design is underlying almost everything we touch, rely on and need.
I take pride in PRDN as I highly believe that it is the life-changing major especially as we progress in the future. We focus on problems and provide solutions to users such as people who are physically disabled and visual/hearing impaired.
In this field, our main goal is to make someone’s life easier. It’s more than just colours, drawings or shapes, it’s a platform to change and provide ease to those who are struggling physically and mentally.
We have the chance to turn an idea into something tangible and purposeful that someone out in the world may need. This is why PRDN is special to me, through this I am able to not only help others but also make my dreams a reality.
